Witch Watch: A pinch of salt well placed banishes evil and brings luck

Salt has been the bane of my existence for the past few years and contributed to several health issues. So it makes sense that the first two Witch Watch columns that I uncovered after a kidney stone passage pertain to the compound.

From Prehistoric to Biblical to modern times salt has held a place in the spiritual realm. It has been said that kissing arose from the desire for salt as cavemen licked their mate's skin with joyous duo purpose.

Birth, marriage and death customs have included rituals utilizing salt and is one of the elements of holy water used in blessings and exorcisms.

It is a bad omen to spill salt but a simple reverse is obtainable by picking up a pinch with the right hand and tossing it over the left shoulder.
